I wonder if you can beat Terraria with only pre-1.1 items. So no Hardmode items (aside from required summoning items for progression), no Crimson items (only Corruption), not even early game stuff like Cactus or Wood armor

One of my favourite ways to play terraria was with the PS Vita, it would be cool to see a video on that version.

My OCD ass couldn't stand the idea of leaving ugly tunnels and shafts in my pretty world, let alone see the remnants on the minimap. So instead I used the Rod of Discord to remove both sides of the Hardmode V by teleporting in between each cave with the clentaminator and scrounging for every block by hand. THEN, in a different world, after I had grown up a little and realized the evil was necessary for so-called "balance", I simply dug diagonally to create a neat little barrier. Of course, I was also paranoid of it spreading some how so each tunnel was 6 tiles wide with 2 tiles of stone brick on each side because it needed to look nice. I haven't actually played Terraria since.

"Manually destroy every crimson block in the world..." And that's why I never purified Terraria myself. I just got bored long before getting to that point, where the greatest explosives ended up being tedious.

I always dug a 6 wide trench around corruption / crimson in pre-hardmode, than lined the entire thing with wood blocks on both sides to prevent vines / thorns from spreading. It is an absolute pain in the tail if those biomes also happen to be on top of an underground jungle x_x .

You're forgetting that bombs are a type of weapon, which is a type of tool. Considering that your bare hands are all but useless, no. You cannot beat Terraria without tools

Can people please stop Achievement mongering. Just play the game. XBox 360 introduced Achievements in a marketing campaign targeted at young children. JUST PLAY THE BLOODY GAME
